I had heard about the Yonanas on the Dr. Oz show (of course!). It was demonstrated and Dr. Oz loved it! Being a banana lover, I knew I would love it too. I kind of forgot about it for a while but my son wanted a gelato maker. In searching on Amazon for a good gelato maker, I ran across Yonanas and decided to purchase it. Oh my gosh!! It is so simple to use! You just put a peeled, frozen banana in the chute and out comes banana soft serve! I am also lactose intolerant so no dairy was great for me! My son is not a banana fan so he was glad that other frozen fruits can be used - we love the Yonanas!~ Suzanne E.
We bought this product in September 2012 and have used it already so much. You can put any kind of fruits, not just bananas; I have tried melon, pears, apples, peaches, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, mangoes, pineapple etc... everything worked. I let the fruit unthaw for about 10 minutes before putting it in the machine or pass them under hot water for a couple of seconds. Hard frozen fruits don't pass through the machine easily. We love this product and use it almost every day. Great purchase!~ Corinne
I bought this machine and it performs just as promised. I make all kinds of ice cream treats. I love that I can make them with healthy fruit with no worry of added sugars and calories. I buy over ripe bananas at a discount which is always a good thing. The ideas are really endless. I also love that it is easy to clean. Put it in the top of your dishwasher or wash by hand. This is one machine that I leave on my kitchen counter...no dust cover for this baby.~ Granchick
I received this as an early birthday present and could not wait to try it out! I'd learned about this appliance from a sticker on a banana and I'm damned glad I did too! It works sooo much better than advertised, no it doesn't taste like soft serve but it is soooooo much better! If you love sorbet you will absolutely loooove this toy! My whole family really loved it, as fast as I could make it they were coming back for seconds and my boyfriend would have been back for thirds if there'd been any more frozen fruit. I did what another reviewer suggested and made an ice cube tray full of vanilla no sugar no fat pudding to use with it and it was amazing. Any fruit I put in came out amazing and delicious! I'm going to the store later to buy more fresh fruit to freeze, more frozen fruit and more varieties of pudding to use too. The possibilities are truly endless with this amazing device and I can't wait to use peanut butter, greek yogurt, and tofu to make treats with protein too, that way it really can be a meal ;D I am just so in love with this machine and I can't believe I actually found a product that does just what it says!
In regards to noise, it's no louder than a food processor and quieter than a blender full of frozen fruit or ice. And cleanup is a breeze. Whether you follow their directions of just rinsing it (which I did earlier after making myself a banana, plum, pudding sorbet with vanilla almond cereal for breakfast, because I know I'll be using it again later today) or actually using a soapy sponge, breakdown and cleanup take only around 2-3 minutes total so I have no idea what people are whining about.
As for the texture, it was divine, perfectly melt in your mouth smooth with any type of fruit I tried, which so far have been strawberries, pineapple, mango, peach, plum, and of course banana.
All in all, if you're on the fence about this device and are afraid that it might be a gimmick, put aside your worries and get it, you won't be sorry! I don't think this device will ever be removed from my counter. And I know it will certainly help me use fruits that are past enjoyment on their own since over ripe fruits of any kind are pretty great in this thing, which means less wasted money!
Ok, most of us make toast or coffee more often than frozen desert. Nonetheless, this is the best! The stuff it makes is healthy & delicious, the process is simple enough for little kids to help, & it's rugged: undamaged after years of use. Perhaps most important, (because it's something that causes most similar products to never get used after the first few times): It cleans up quickly, easily, simply, & completely.~ Vine Voice
I don't throw my overly ripe bananas away now I freeze them for some delicious fat free ice cream. I have added powdered peanut butter to my bananas and had a great treat of peanut butter and banana ice cream without all the fat and calories.~ Bob
I’ve been trying to lose weight all my life, one of my biggest diet breakers being ice cream. Not anymore Yonanas is awesome!!! I absolutely love it and no more wasted bananas! Easy to use and easy clean up. I really do love this thing.~ Losing Faster
Normally I like gadgets that have virtual keyboards and retina displays. However, this is my favorite new gadget.
I have had this Yonanas 902 Ice Cream Treat Maker for a couple of weeks now. My freezer is stuffed full of frozen bananas because I afraid I might run out of bananas. The Yonanas is well packaged, but easy to get right out of the box and start using. The selling point for me was other reviewers that had written that it was easy to clean. Now that I have mine, I can reassure anyone considering a Yonanas that it is true. There are five large parts that disassemble very easily that are a breeze to clean. Yonanas does not have a large footprint. Its footprint is equal to that of my traditional blender. The only negative is that the machine is loud when in use, but no louder than my traditional blender, so it is not an issue for me.
I have been experimenting with various combinations of bananas and fruit. So far, my favorite is two bananas with a table spoon for chocolate PB2 sprinkled over it then mix it up really well. My second favorite is banana/strawberry and my third is banana/blueberry. In each case it is one banana and 3/4 cup of other fruit. Let your imagination run wild.
For sure, the bananas and any other fruit one will be using need to be frozen for at least two days.
There does seem to be a good bit of soft-serve fruit still in the machine when done. On the last batch, I take the machine apart and scrape out the residual fruit from the cone area and from the blade.
No regrets here and I plan to purchase a couple for Christmas gifts!~ J. Julian
