Friday Faves

So proud to be part of such a wonderful company that continues helping people each and every day! Once again, thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and please enjoy this weeks Friday-faves and your weekend! Enjoy – Candice

This is a really nice, cheap way to enjoy ‘ice cream’. We love using it and mixing different frozen fruits into the bananas. We decided that just bananas didn’t do it, so we’ve used various fruits and it’s great for the kids to eat. Healthy, soft ice-cream…Yumm meeeee. Use very ripe bananas to get a really sweet result, the riper the better. Let all fruit thaw about 10 minutes, no more, and the texture will be lovely. Buy it, you won’t be disappointed. – Kazcon

I seriously can’t stop talking about this…I love it and the kids love it…We are back on track to healthy eating! – Nicole Harrison

I am thinking I should have bought stock in the banana companies. I’ve never bought so many bananas in my life than I have since buying our yonanas machine! – Cindy Frazier

Friday Faves

Thank you to all that take the time to write to us each and every week, we absolutley love and appreciate the positive feedback!  Here are your Friday-Faves from this past week…  ENJOY and have a great weekend! - Candice

Just wanted to let you know how thankful I am to have found your product.  My daughter has FPIES (Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome) and is unable to eat many foods.  One of her few safe foods are bananas and I am always looking for creative ways to incorporate bananas into her meals.  Yonanas does just that!  Thanks again for a great product! – Leahan D.

To learn more about FPIES please visit the International Association for Food Protein Enterocolitis:

I use the bagged frozen fruit you can buy at Sams or Wal-mart that has strawberries, peaches, pineapple and mango…One banana and a cup of the mixed fruit and top it with some coco-lopez canned coconut puree..I keep the coconut in the freezer but it does not freeze so I just add a little to the fruit after processing and mix it in…nice and fruity with a tropical flavor…very refreshing! This processor is amazing it took my wife about 3 months to talk me into buying it, because it looked like a gimmick and could not believe it would make fruit into an ice cream style dessert. I was so wrong and even though I love ice cream, this is far better and does not leave you thirsty like ice cream does but satisfies and increases your energy level! – Robert S.

OK Dear Yonanas, I am probably one of the biggest skeptics alive. I have recently purchased & tried your Yonanas ice cream maker. I am now your BIGGEST fan! Wow what a surprise! I thought I would be returning this thing for sure. For the low price how good could it possibly be? Well I am here to tell you it works just like they say it does. My fruit came out soft and creamy, just like soft serve ice cream. Clean up is a breeze, and in just minutes I have a fresh, healthy treat without all the added fat and sugars! Thank you Yonanas for my new passion! HMM passion fruit, I wonder how that freezes!!! – Stephanie G.

Friday Faves

Welcome to our Friday faves for the end of this week!  Have a wonderful weekend and ENJOY!!! – Candice

I love this machine. Although I was skeptical I gave it a try and now use it several times per week. The machine is easy to use, easy to clean – the yonanas is delicious! I buy fresh fruit on sale, freeze it and then enjoy.  Pineapple is my favorite. This is one specialty kitchen device that is not collecting dust!  - Dawn

First of all this has to be the best small appliance I have ever bought. Aside from that, I have never had such exceptional response to a concern regarding anything I have ever purchased in my entire life. I want to thank you for such wonderful customer service; the replacement arrived a few minutes ago. I am so happy to be able to make a great dessert when I get back from the gym later tonight. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your fantastic follow-up. – Tom O.

I have looked at this item each time it has come on the T.V., but I always managed to talk myself out of buying it. I saw it on again before Christmas and called my mom to check it out. Anyway, I was lucky enough that my mother bought me this for Christmas. It is AMAZING. I take a large bag of frozen berries from freezer and my bag of bananas that I have frozen and make a large batch each weekend. I can get about 4-5 liters from these items, and I just put it in the freezer for the week. It is so nice to have ready to eat for those times that you want something quick (and usually BAD) just to snack on. I really can NOT say enough of how much I LOVE this product. –Momma F

Friday Faves

These yonanas stories are absolutly amazing and we just had share!  We really are glad that so many people are enjoying their yonanas and spreading the word! We hope you enjoy some of our favorites from this past week as much as we did. Have a great weekend! – Candice

We have shared messages before, but I just wanted to brag some more about my Yonanas. I’m a weight loss counsler in southern West Virginia.  I have bragged so much about my Yonanas in my classes that in my 3 classes in Beckley alone, I probably have now at least 20 people using one regularly.  They love them and almost every week someone else has purchased one and raves about how happy they are with it. In the Princeton/Bluefield area, where the majority of my classes are scheduled and the economy is much worse, there are also many members buying and using one regularly.  I just wanted you to know how much I love mine, and how much I encourage our members to make the Yonanas a part of their regular eating routine. It is a perfect fit with our healthy eating plan, with no added sugars or fats. I add non-fat greek yogurt to my mixture after I run it through the machine, and therefore it becomes protein packed and counts as a healthy dairy serving.  I will also often sprinkle it with bran buds to give it a little crunch.  Lots of days, I count my Yonanas mixture as a meal! I love the banana-grape combination best and I have several others that I make often.Thank-you so much for developing such a wonderful product! – Eva F.

I never write reviews but I just have to share on this one – I have it and love it! Every household needs to have the Yonanas. It just doesn’t get any better than this amazing invention. The advertisements almost sound too good to be true, but I can tell you from my experience it is all that it says it will be and more. Easy to use, easy to clean and most of all makes a delish frozen treat comparable to ice-cream. And yes, it works without using bananas too. The bananas make it creamy, but the frozen treat that come out without bananas is also delish. Strawberries, mangoes – you name it, FANTASTIC. No additives, no milk, no sugar – nadda – just fruit (frozen). Added bonus is that it isn’t heavy and doesn’t take up much room on the counter. And when I say it is easy to clean, I mean it. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the cleaning (bad experiences with the labor involved cleaning a juicer) but the Yonanas is nothing like that, takes seriously 30 seconds to rinse and that is it. The parts are also dishwasher safe. FABULOUS! - Pinkphotogal

I love my Yonanas machine. My son got if for me for Christmas, but actually I bought it a month before, started using it and wrapped it back up for him to give me. I am so excited about it that I tell all my friends, family, coworkers, hairstylist, etc., anyone who will listen. Just by me being excited about it I have had at least 12 people buy it for themselves or as gifts. I cannot say the name without sticking up my thumbs and in a deep voice say “Go Yonanas”. Thank you so much for this wonderful machine. I am a runner and eat it at least once a day, its like eating ice cream for breakfast. How can you beat that? I am considering changing my name to YoNancy. – Nancy P.

Some of our favorite comments from this past week! A retired chef who is feeling inspired and a skeptical husband, these are great!!! Enjoy and have a great weekend – Candice

I just received my yonanas this week and tried it out this morning. Absolutely love it, the best product I have ever purchased. I love ice cream and yogurt, but not the calories. I have been raving to all my co-workers this week about the unit before I even tried it out. Everyone will be getting one for Christmas or Birthdays this year. What a truly fun and healthy product. Have to go and buy lots of fruit. Thank you, Yonanas! -Cher_Care

Wonderful product, does exactly as it claims, ‘ice cream’ from frozen fruit. My only regret is that I do not have a photo of the look on my skeptical husband’s face when he tasted the first spoonful. That would have been one to share on Facebook. He is now a devoted Yonanas fan. – Anne

I am a chef who just received a Yonanas as a retirement gift from another chef. This thing is great! It is quick and easy and I’m only limited by my imagination. I will be purchasing several fro my kids. This is a great product. When I figure out new recipes, I’ll send them to you. – With regard, Chef Patricia Charboneau

Another amazing week of wonderful reviews!  Eva, tells us that yonanas has made a such a difference in her eating habits and Rod loves what a healthy treat it is!  We love your feedback and look forward to posting each and every Friday!  Thank you and enjoy your weekend. – Candice

Hi! I know you receive many letters of rave reviews. And I am not normally one to take the time to write one myself. However, after using your product for a week, I am compelled to write to you to thank you. Yonanas is a superior product. There is NOTHING else out there that even comes close to this. I am so impressed. I ordered it, but in all honesty, did not hold out much hope. Must be too good to be true. When I received my Yonanas, I was amazed at how easy and simple it comes apart and goes back together. Virtually idiot proof. Clean up is a snap. Thanks for that. I partially thawed a couple bananas, some strawberries and some blueberries and made my first batch. Oh My Goodness! I am in heaven. Its fast to make, creamy consistency, and hands down the BEST fruit dessert I have ever tasted. Even the bananas by themselves were a heavenly treat. Like banana ice cream. This might be a rave letter, but I felt it was the nicest thing I could do for a person and company who has revolutionized dessert options while still maintaining healthy eating. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We are very thrilled customers! Everyone on my birthday list is getting one of these this year. – Sherry Ullrich

Ice cream WHO? Yonanas!!!! We tried it for the first tonight, and we’re addicted!!! Already have tomorrow’s fruit in the freezer!  Thanks for making an awesome, HEALTHY treat for our family!!!! – Kelley Kadelbach

I have never heard of Yonanas until I received one for Christmas from friends who knew my wife and I were on a weight loss journey.  Now we enjoy more fruit and feel like we’re having a very special desert.  It’s like cheating!  Thanks, yonanas! – Rod Brooks

Yonanas has made such a difference in my eating habits! What started as a healthy substitute for high calorie deserts has evolved into a brand new outlook toward my meal planning, grocery shopping, and diet control. I can’t thank you enough for this revolutionary product. I wonder if you can track how many Yonanas have been sold in my region. I took my machine to every holiday party, school event, and family gathering…anywhere that I was expected to bring a “dish”. I would show up with gallon sized bags of frozen fruit and garnishes like Oreos, granola, crushed peppermints, and frozen dark chocolate pieces. The ripple effect started and I can’t tell you how many machines were bought after my demonstrations! I will do the biggest demo yet March 18 when I serve Yonanas at the Abita Springs Earth Fest. If you ever need a Yonanas spokesperson in South Louisiana, this school teacher’s at your service!  - Eva Jenkins

Are you D-ficient?

Vitamin D seems to consistently be in the headlines…  Now due to a rising number of both children and adults who are deficient in this very important vitamin and the potential long term consequences that this may have.

Functions? Vitamin D’s main job is to maintain normal levels of calcium and phosphorus in the blood, which are important for bone growth and maintenance.  Vitamin D may also play a role in providing protection from osteoporosis, hypertension (high blood pressure), cancer (breast, pancreatic, and colon),  and several autoimmune diseases (lupus, MS, psoriasis), depression cognitive/memory decline associated with aging and chronic pain..

Requirements: The new RDI’s indicate that adequate levels of intake for infants are 400 IU/day with a maximum of 1,000 IU/day for infants 0-6 months of age and 1,500 IU/day in infants 6-12 months of age.  The new requirement for children and teens 1-20 years of age who are not deficient is 600 IU/day, although many vitamin D advocates believe even this is too low.  Speak with your doctor if your child does not eat any food high in vitamin D (see below).  Check out the newest report from the Institute of Medicine which reflects the new DRI’s at www.iom.edu.

The Sunshine Vitamin:  Typically referred to as the “sunshine” vitamin, about 90% is made by the body when skin is exposed to UVB rays from sunlight.  Experts believe that as little as 10-15 minutes in the sun three times a week (with most of the skin exposed without sunscreen) is sufficient to meet needs.  Since most of us wear sunscreen the majority of the time (even lotions come with sunscreen in them), often the vitamin D from the sun can not be counted on.  The other 10% comes from food, which is made easier with Vitamin D fortified products.

Deficiency? Rickets occurs with vitamin D deficiency in children, causing bone malformations and bowed legs. A host of other problems have been linked to Vitamin D deficiency in children, as well.  If you are exclusively breastfeeding your infant, supplementation of Vitamin D is needed due to low levels in breast milk.  A blood test can easily identify vitamin D deficiency.  Infants and children should be screened for deficiency if they have: poor growth, gross motor delays, exclusively breastfed, unusual irritability, dark pigmented skin, presence of Vitamin D lowering medications , malabsorption syndromes or inflammatory bowel diseases, frequent fractures, low bone mineral density, obesity, low intake of vitamin D-rich foods, limited sun exposure.

Toxicity? Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin and therefore stored in the body.  Toxicity is possible, and can lead to serious problems such as hypercalcemia, lung, heart, and kidney problems.  Recent research has shown that intakes need to be much higher than once thought to induce toxicity.

Dietary Sources: Oily fish (such as tuna, mackerel, sardines, salmon) and cod liver oil are great naturally rich sources of Vitamin D.  Enhanced and fortified foods include eggs, milk, orange juice, and cereal.  Just be sure that the packaging indicates that vitamin D has been added. Fortified milk is the main source of vitamin D for Americans.

Vitamin D is crucial for any growing child.  Whether it’s the sunshine of your active life, or your family table, the benefits are the same.  Getting a mix of both is the best way to ensure your kids are covered.  Yet another reason to eat a good breakfast and spend more time playing outdoors!

Recipe:  Honey Glazed Salmon

-Salmon is a great source of Vitamin D (and Omega 3 fatty acids as well!)

Ingredients:

2 tbsp olive oil

1/4 cup honey

1 1/2 to 2 pounds salmon, cut into 4 fillets

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.  Mix the olive oil and honey and brush on salmon.

Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes (depending on the thickness of your fillets) or until fish flakes easily with a fork.

Serve with quinoa and brocolli for a quick delish meal!

Here are a few of our favorite messages from this week!  Debra, who has lost 125 pounds and kept it off since 2003 has been incorporating yonanas into her daily routine! Thank you for all of the inspiring messages.  Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy! -Candice

Hi, I am a weight watcher leader who has lost 125 lbs and kept it off since 2003. I am always looking for great healthy products to share with my members. I LOVE the YONANA. I talk about it in all of my weight watcher meetings. If you see sales going up in Indianapolis, Indiana I know why. I am kind of like the Oprah of weight watchers here in Indy. If I say I love something many of my members run out to get it. Well, just wanted you to know that your product is great and I am trying new things all the time. – Debbie Rickelman

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I’ve been a diabetic for almost 20 years and finally have something that I can enjoy and that is okay for me to include on my food plan. Last night, I made mango, peach, banana soft-serve. It was the best combo I’ve ever used. I use yonanas every single day. It’s so easy and the cleanup is a breeze. I put the machine on a thick towel to absorb some of the noise. I love you for inventing this! – DeEtte Starr

I love your product. Before I bought it, I used to eat ice cream, cookies and all manner of sweets every day. Your machine enables me to satisfy my cravings in a healthy way. I don’t eat any more junk sweets. My cholesterol has dropped 27% in two months. I believe that Yonanas is a major reason. Everyone should have one and use it daily. If they did, the maker of Lipitor would go out of business. Thank you. – Richard Leeb
